60% Vancouver Island Romney 25% Saskatchwan Targhee 15% Ontario Kid Mohair DK weight yarn, 255 yards per 110 grams, 3 ply, non-superwash, 100% Canadian!

This beautiful yarn is a special blend created by Donna at Wellington Fibres in Elora, Ontario from fleeces I sent to her. It features 60% Vancouver Island organically farmed Romney wool from a ewe named "Zanzibar" (from Horizon Heritage Farms in Errington, BC), 25% Saskatchewan Targhee from the Nordick Farm in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, and 15% Ontario kid mohair from Wellington Fibres' own flock of Angora goats.

The combination of these three fibres make for a yarn that's soft, strong, shiny, and warm. Each fibre contributes to this: strength and shine from the Romney and kid mohair, softness and warmth from the Targhee and mohair.

This yarn will make wonderful sweaters, hats, mittens, and even socks, and it's next-to-skin soft for most people.

This yarn is offered as undyed, with an option for custom dyeing. For custom dyeing, please email us at smallbirdworkshop AT gmail DOT com to discuss colours. Due to the natural colour of this yarn, it will be best suited to darker, rich jewel tones (not suitable for light or pastel colours).

There may be colour variations between skeins, and therefore, it's advisable to alternate skeins in multi-skein projects. I dye in small batches, so please ensure you purchase enough yarn to complete your project, as yarn from another batch may be different.**
