100% Canadian Shropshire 2 ply sport weight yarn, 500 yards per 110 grams, woolen spun
If you like poofy, squishy, plump yarn, have a look at this Shropshire yarn! It's got loft for days, and has that delightful sticky quality that makes for an excellent colourwork yarn. While Shropshire wool isn't next-to-skin soft for those with sensitive skin, it's a fantastic hardworking yarn that will make warm, light garments and accessories. And, unlike many Down-type wools, Shropshire has a hint of lustre, which means it takes dye really well for rich, saturated colours.
Shropshire sheep are a rare breed heritage Down-type sheep. This wool comes from Ponderosa Shropshires in Oyama, BC, and was spun at Custom Woolen Mills in Alberta, making this a 100% Canadian product! We have also carried sock yarn and pindrafted roving from this flock, and will have more of the Aran weight yarn in the shop soon!+/-
