I'm always thrilled to give Vancouver Island-grown Romney a spotlight - not only is my favourite wool, but Romney sheep have recently been added to the Heritage Livestock Canada  conservation list. Heritage Livestock Canada is a non-profit organization that seeks to raise the profile of heritage breeds, as heritage breeds take a special kind of commitment and dedication from farmers. It's not an easy road, but one that's vital to the preservation of the important genetics of modern foundation breeds, and deserves every bit of support. I'm proud to include yarns and fibre from several purebred flocks among my offerings, and am a supporter and member of Heritage Livestock Canada.

This beautiful pindrafted roving is from Innisfierm Farm, located near Qualicum Beach, BC. It has a lofty, fairly soft hand, and the natural colours is just so lovely. I'd suggest spinning it worsted style, or for an extra special yarn, hand blend the roving with a bit of sari silk!

If you don't spin, I also stock yarn from the same flock - it's just as delightful, and both the yarn and the pindrafted roving were processed by Wellington Fibres in Ontario.

Sold in 100 gram braids.
