A perfect fibre for sock spinners! This pindrafted roving was sourced from Raven Hill Meadows Farm in Cedar, BC. The Raven Hill Meadows flock is a breeding flock, meaning that all of their sheep are either sold to other farms or are kept to develop their breeding program. Because breeding is the focus of the flock, the wool is excellent - springy, elastic, bouncy, and relatively soft for Cheviot!

Cheviot sheep hail from the Cheviot Hills region of North England (by the way, it's pronounced "Chee-vee-it" by locals from that region), and traditional, the wool from Cheviot sheep was milled in the border mills and used to produce kilt hose, among other things. There are several different types of Cheviot sheep, and all of them produce wool with a spiral crimp structure, which means their wool is elastic and warm. It's the perfect wool for socks, especially since it tends to resist felting (note: always test this with a swatch prior to machine washing!) and it has excellent stitch definition and strength.

This pindrafted roving was processed by That Darn Yarn Mill in Kamloops, BC, which means this fibre has a total footprint of under 800 km (the smallest I can get, due to the lack of mill on Vancouver Island) and is a 100% BC product!

Sold undyed in 100 gram bumps.
