100% Canadian Rambouillet Aran Weight Yarn, 200 yards per 110 grams, 2 ply, woolen spun
This woolen spun 100% Canadian Rambouillet yarn has passed the floof test! Sourced from a small flock of purebred Rambouillets that live near Vernon, BC, this yarn was spun at Custom Woolen Mills in Carstairs, Alberta, and showcases just how lofty and soft Rambouillet can be! Rambouillets are also known as "French Merino", as the original flock was gifted to King Louis XVI by his cousin, King Charles III of Spain and was raised on the royal estate at Rambouillet. Rambouillet shares many of the same properties as merino - it's soft and crimpy, and suitable for next to skin wear for most. However, it tends to have a longer staple than merino, and therefore, tends to wear better. This flock's wool has tested at 21-23 microns, which definitely shows that we can raise fine wools in Canada!
This batch of yarn comes from the 2020 and 2021 clips, and a limited quantity is available, so please ensure you purchase enough to complete your project. There are still a few more colourways on the way, so stay tuned if your favourite isn't here quite yet!
