Haynes Creek Aran - 100% Pure Highland Wool, 180 metres per 100 grams, spun and dyed in Peru
One of the things a hand dyer can't do is create heathered yarns. Heathered yarns are made by blend different shades of combed top together prior to spinning, and since this is a great yarn made by a mill with excellent environmental and social practices, Catherine wanted to bring it into the shop!
Haynes Creek Aran is supplied by our good friends at Gathering Yarn. It knits up at 18 sts to 4 inches on 4.5 mm needles, and is a great, all-purpose yarn with a fantastic price point. Catherine plans to offer some hand dyed yarns on the same base to coordinate with the heathers, so stay tuned for that!
This yarn is spun at Michell's in Peru, which is the mill behind the Mirasol Project. In addition, Michell's is certified by the following standards: GOTS, CCU, USDA Organic, OEKO-TEX, Peru Fair Trade and Responsible Wool Standard.
