The Small Bird Workshop is proud to present a brand new, 100% Vancouver Island Romney DK weight yarn! This yarn is strong, lustrous, and silky. It may not be next-to-skin appropriate for those with sensitive skin, but it's not scratchy, either - Catherine's got a turtleneck sweater planned with this yarn! This yarn will also be great for weaving and is strong enough for warp.

Romney sheep are a British heritage breed. They are large sheep with long, lustrous locks, and kind, soft eyes. Romneys are a favoured breed for many Vancouver Island farms as they're well adapted to our environment, and the wool for this batch was sourced from two flocks that Catherine's worked with for several years now. One flock is based in Black Creek, BC and the other is in Errington, BC. Catherine attends shearing day at the Black Creek farm to skirt fleeces, and the sheep and person in the photo is Mikel, Catherine's husband, handling one of the big Romney rams on shearing day.

This yarn was processed and spun at Wave Fibre Mill in Parry Sound, Ontario, and we thank the mill for their excellent work!
