Wassail Toque and Mitts Kit
'Tis the season to wassail! And, whilst wassailing, once must have one's head and hands toasty and warm with a cozy mitt and hat set!
The Wassail Mitts and Toque feature an easy-to-knit cable pattern that can be worked with or without a cable needle (instructions for both methods are included in the pattern). The cable pattern was inspired by fir boughs, and the kit includes skeins of either our lovely undyed grey or white Bunting DK, a 100% Falkland Island Corriedale 4 ply DK weight yarn that's next-to-skin soft (so says the Mikel, and he's got sensitive skin). And, the mitts features an arched thumb gusset, making these mitts a little extra-special.
The kit includes a pdf download for both the hat and mitt patterns, and either one or two skeins of yarn, depending on the sizes. Please read below for all the sizing information. This kit is suitable for advanced beginners and up. Please note that the kit includes the yarn and the patterns. All other items are not included in the kit.
Yarn: Bunting DK, 245 metres per 100 grams, 4 ply, non-superwash, sourced from the Falkland Islands, milled in the UK.
Toque Information:Sizes: Baby (Toddler, Child, Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large) to fit head circumference of 14”/36 cm (16”/41 cm, 18”/46 cm, 20”/51 cm, 22”/56 cm, 24”/61 cm)
Yarn Requirements: 100 (125, 150, 175, 200, 225) yards/ 91 (114, 137, 160, 183, 206) metres of DK weight yarn
Needles: 4 mm (US 6) circular knitting needles
4 mm (US 6) double point knitting needles
3.75 mm (US 5) circular knitting needles
Notions: stitch marker, tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Mitts Information:
Sizes: S (M, L) to fit hand circumference 6 (7, 8)“/15 (18, 20) cm - measured around knuckles, not including thumb. These mitts are designed to fit with a small amount of negative ease.
Yarn Requirements: 120 (140, 160) yards/110 (128, 146) metres of DK weight yarn.
Needles: 3.5 mm (US 4) double point knitting needles
3.75 mm (US 5) double point knitting needles
Notion: 3 st markers, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, waste yarn or small st holder
